Firms with under-$30 evaluations are generally tagged “cheap means risky.” But as of mid-2026, several established firms in our tracked set offer $19–$29 entry tiers. This guide maps the conditions under which “cheap and safe” works, and lists the major firms’ cheapest fees.
Three patterns of “cheap”
Pattern 1: Perpetual discounts to look cheap
Headline $99 firm with a permanent “60% OFF → $39” — the discount runs always, so $39 is effectively the real price. These firms usually:
- Founded after 2023
- Price-led marketing
- Short operating history
This is red-flag pattern 1 — push them to the back.
Pattern 2: Smallest-account tier at mature firms
Even mature firms offer their smallest account tiers ($2,500, $5,000, $10,000) at $19–$29. Examples:
- The5%ers High Stakes $2,500 Step 1: $19
- FundingPips 2-Step Pro $5,000: $29
- Audacity Capital Ability Challenge $5,000: $39
These are where “cheap and safe” really exists.
Pattern 3: Time-limited promotional discounts
Specific periods (Black Friday, New Year) with deep discounts off normal pricing. Useful for a one-time cheap start; for ongoing use, plan around the regular price.

| FTMO | $89 | $10,000 | Since 2014 — Trustpilot data not public |
Among the cheapest (<$30), only The5%ers and City Traders Imperium have 5+ years of operating history. FundingPips is from 2022 (nearly 4 years) but did survive the 2024 platform shock.
How to pick “cheap and safe”
Three steps:
- Do not jump on the lowest fee — check operating history first. 5+ years + survived the 2024 MetaQuotes shock is the safety baseline.
- Verify payouts via Trustpilot count 5,000+. The5%ers 30k+, FundingPips 58k+, MyFundedFutures 19k+ are reassuring.
- Use a small-account tier to test “do the firm’s rules fit my style?” A $19–$49 trial confirms fit before moving up.
Realistic starter budgets
Under $50: The5%ers $19. Under $100: The5%ers + FundingPips in parallel. Under $200: Three trial evaluations across firms.
Neither “cheap = risky” nor “expensive = safe” is the right frame. Operating history + Trustpilot count + evaluation fee, weighted together — that is our published methodology.
